Landmark Recovery offers SMART Recovery, Neurofeedback and ongoing therapy to patients in our comprehensive program for the treatment of substance abuse disorders.

Smart Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training) is a support program that teaches people how to manage their addictions by focusing on unhealthy thought patterns and beliefs. SMART is a self-empowerment program.

SMART Recovery uses a 4-point program that focuses on building the skills necessary for maintaining sobriety.

SMART Recovery

Point One – Building and Maintaining Motivation:

Motivation during sobriety comes and goes. It’s easier to manage life stressors when you feel inspired and focused. What happens when enthusiasm fades? You will learn how to STAY SOBER through individual therapy and group activities that reignite your “fire” to keep moving forward.

Point Two – Coping With Urges:

Cravings can be immensely difficult to deal with, and point two explores the triggers behind them. Going back to the concept of empowerment, once you are aware of stressors that cause the urge to relapse you will be better prepared to deal with cravings.

Point Three – Managing Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors:

The concept of irrational beliefs is explored, and individuals are taught how to recognize distorted thinking that leads to relapse. Examining why you think the way you do is important during this stage.

Point Four – Living a Balanced Life:

Participants take an inventory of what’s important to them and use it to make a plan for the future. Coping skills, community resources and relapse prevention skills are introduced as tools that help you stay sober long-term.

The SMART Recovery program centers around behavioral and cognitive methods that enable YOU to take ownership of your addiction, life, and recovery. Meetings are structured but the agenda is flexible, and every participant has the opportunity to speak about how their recovery is progressing.

Neurofeedback

Patients at Landmark Recovery receive Neurofeedback sessions that teach the brain how to function in healthier and more balanced ways. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive therapy that reprograms abnormal brain wave patterns to make them function more optimally. What this means is that the brain can better self-regulate itself, and a more balanced individual emerges.

Neurofeedback can be equated to learning to ride a bike or bake a cake. You must learn through experience, and you can’t understand how to perform activities through reading an instruction booklet or recipe.

Once you jump on the bike or start mixing ingredients, your brainwave patterns signal that something has been processed and learned. Similarly, Neurofeedback provides information about how your brain is working.

Think of it as an experience that helps you do something better.

Sensors are placed on your head to pick up brain signals, which are then amplified. This information coming from the brain’s electrical signals is then displayed on the screen of a computer giving the brain a way to see itself in action.

Neurofeedback identifies regions of the brain not working correctly and provides insight into the individual’s neurological issues such as anxiety, insomnia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and addiction just to name a few.

This knowledge helps professionals to provide treatment options based on specific problems and diagnoses.

Ongoing Therapy

Many people would say that the hardest part about going into a substance abuse rehab center is walking through the front door. Just getting there can be one the most emotional and stressful experiences of your life.

Often the second hardest aspect of being in an inpatient addiction program is “opening up” about trauma, personal problems and painful life experiences that accompany chemical dependency.

At Landmark Recovery, we understand that open dialogue between the client and therapist is an essential component of early recovery – we also understand that it might take you awhile to get there.

We don’t judge or tell clients what they “have to do” to stay sober. Landmark Staff listens, supports and inspires!

We integrate therapies that identify the cause of addiction, discuss strategies that help you overcome challenges and barriers to recovery, and will teach you how to live a healthy and balanced life.

Our patients receive three hours of group therapy daily and individual sessions three times a week. Our mission is to provide you with a “tool belt of resources and practical knowledge” that you can put to use for the rest of your life.

At Landmark, we want to help you live the life you dreamed!

Our comprehensive services address the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of addiction. Our caring and professional staff have vast knowledge and expertise in treatment options that really work. Unlike a bleak hospital setting, you’ll feel at ease in our warm, open and comfortable environment. For more information about Landmark Recovery’s drug and alcohol program, call us today!
