Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment Right for You?

Posted by Sara Niemiec on May 14, 2018 8:00:00 AM

Intensive Outpatient Rehab is an effective form of treatment for many individuals. However, depending on the situation, it may or may not be ideally suited to match your specific needs. For those trying to get off drugs and alcohol, IOP is a step towards recovery that is less intensive than inpatient rehab but more involved than solely detoxing, attending therapy, or pursuing medication assisted recovery by itself.

Intensive Outpatient should be looked at if you recently completed medical detox, if a licensed clinician recommends it, or if you are looking for a less time intensive form of rehab. IOP's are generally recommended for those who don’t need medically-supervised detox. If detox is needed, however, IOP is an option to consider trying after completion. IOP provides flexibility, accountability, and the continued support to keep you free from drugs and alcohol.

Teenage Drug and Alcohol Abuse Facts

Posted by Sara Niemiec on Apr 19, 2018 10:00:00 AM

Drug and alcohol abuse. It surrounds individuals on a daily basis and unfortunately can be introduced into children's lives at younger ages than we would enjoy. While some children are just reminded it exists, some dabble in the use of drugs or alcohol before they enter middle school or high school. In many high school surveys, many students admitted that they have drank alcohol before the legal age of 21. The problem in today’s society regarding the drinking of alcohol is that the laws restricting it do not do their jobs when it comes to the world’s children. Even though the legal drinking age in the U.S. is 21, young adults will get fake ids, steal liquor from friends or family, or pay individuals old enough to purchase alcohol to get it for them. By teaching children the facts while they are young, we might be able to help reduce this problem.
